Nik Nack Green Beans




Ingredients

Serves : 4 

  • 75ml  butter
  • 50ml plain flour
  • 960ml milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12.5ml oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 pack diced bacon
  • 1 pack fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 pack cheese nacks or Nik Nacks® crisps
  • 1 pack fresh green beans, cut in 5cm pieces
  • 110g grated Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C
  2. Make white sauce by melting butter, adding flour to make a roux and adding milk little by little until thickened into white sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste. Keep to one side.
  3. Pour oil in pan and pan fry onion, bacon and mushrooms until onion is soft and bacon almost crispy.
  4. Break cheese nacks until crumbly. You can put cheese nacks inside bowl and make it crumbly by pressing a cup over it.
  5. Mix the crumbled cheese nacks with white sauce, then mix bacon, onion and mushrooms in. Stir in green beans. Tip into a baking dish and add grated cheese on top.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until heated through and cheese is melted and crispy on top.
